Anveshan means to discover.
But for us, Anveshan began with searching for something we did not yet know we had lost our voice.
During our college days, We worked on a project, put in our time and effort, and believed we were ready to make it happen. But the project failed. What stayed with us was not only the failure itself, but the humiliation that followed. We realised that we had the skills to build something, but not yet the confidence to stand up for ourselves, speak with conviction, or face the situation together. That experience became the beginning of Anveshan.
What hurt was not simply that the event failed. It was the way we experienced that failure. We realised that we did not lack skills. We lacked the confidence to stand up, speak for ourselves, and question the power around us.
That small setback stayed with us. It was uncomfortable, even humiliating. But it also became the beginning of Anveshan.
We started small with a summer camp. What began as an experiment slowly gave us confidence in what we could build. We saw students respond to our sessions, participate, question, speak, and most importantly, begin believing in themselves.
That is when our purpose became clearer.
We realised that soft skills are not simply taught; they are experienced and felt. They grow through exposure, participation, practice, and the confidence to try. Many of the government school children we worked with had not had access to such spaces before. We therefore wanted to create opportunities where they could communicate, collaborate, question, make mistakes, and gradually develop the skills they need to navigate life with confidence. Today, our work has expanded beyond children, and we are also spreading our wings towards women’s empowerment.
In many ways, we were building in others what we had once struggled to find in ourselves.
Anveshan therefore became more than a trust. It became a movement.
A movement of young people who believe that meaningful change does not always have to begin at the highest level. Sometimes, it begins at the grassroots , with one person finding their confidence, one student finding their voice, one community choosing to support another.
Our logo represents this belief: lifting each other when someone is in need. Because we do not believe that growth is an individual journey. We grow when we create spaces where people can learn from one another, support one another, and move forward together.
What began with a small group of young people has now grown beyond students. Anveshan is becoming a community for anyone who believes in learning, participation, confidence, and collective growth.
We are still searching.
Searching for better ways to learn.
Searching for people whose voices need to be heard.
Searching for problems that can be addressed at the grassroots.
And searching for ways in which we can lift one another along the way.
